Litigation Legal Assistant (Probate) - temp to hire

JOB DESCRIPTION

Established legal firm in Huntsville has a need for an experienced litigation legal assistant.  This is a temporary position that has the possibility of becominig temp to hire.  M-F, 8am-5p, $23-27/hr, DOE. 
 
The primarily duties will be in the area of probate and estate planning, but will also work with evictions.  Duites include:

  • Perform conflict checks; open and maintain client files, case files and organizational documents; and open/close files
  • Review, proofread, format, and spellcheck documents
  • File pleadings and other filings in district/state/federal court, as neeed
  • Schedule and coordinate logistics for meetings, travel, and depositions
  • Maintain calendars, including court deadlines and appearances
  • Enter billable time and edit time and pre-bills
  • Process expense reimbursements
  • Answer incoming calls, respond to inquiries for information

 
Requirements include:

  • Experience with all duties listed above
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including understanding of transactional and litigation legal language and principles
  • Proficiency with MS Office and related software
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, adn proactive
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
