Snelling – Grants & Contracts Accountant (Huntsville, AL)
Snelling is hiring for one of our clients in the Huntsville area for a Grants & Contracts Accountant. This is professional accounting work of a routine nature supporting grant-funded activities. The position reports directly to the Director of Grants and Contracts.
 
Position Summary
The Grants & Contracts Accountant is responsible for performing financial analyses, compliance reporting, and accounting functions related to federal, state, and local restricted funds. This role supports month-end and year-end processes, prepares required reports and invoices, and assists internal stakeholders with grants accounting inquiries.
 
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform analyses and reviews of financial transactions for federal, state, and local restricted funds
• Assist with month-end and year-end closeout and financial preparation
• Perform A-110, A-21, and A-133 reporting and compliance activities
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and invoices
• Assist Principal Investigators (PI’s) with inquiries related to the grants accounting process and facilitation of grants
• Ensure compliance with applicable grant regulations and internal controls
• Perform other related duties as assigned

 
Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration
• One (1) year of grants and contracts accounting experience OR two (2) years of related professional-level accounting experience
• Experience with ERP systems

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of internal controls related to business processes
• Strong foundation in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• In-depth knowledge of state and federal regulations related to grants processing
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail
